Fantastic wedding at Greystoke Castle with Hayley and David

We are very fortunate in that we do tend to photograph some of the nicest weddings in Cumbria and the wedding of Hayley & David was certainly no exception. The combination of a lovely couple, glorious sunshine, Greystoke Castle, a Bakerwood Marquee and a helicopter, left us feeling like children in a sweet shop (as you might be able to tell)! Greystoke castle really is a wonderful venue and I love to work there, but then being able to move on to Hayley's parent's beautiful home in Dalston was a real treat. Hayley & David really know how to travel in style and would like to personally thank family friend Malcolm Wilson, for the use of his fantastic helicopter. We would like to thank Hayley and David for allowing us to record the story of their fantastic day.

Getting ready...

At the castle...

The grounds were beautiful and Hayley was having a great time

Travelling in style thanks to M-Sport's Malcolm Wilson OBE and his helicopter pilot...

Hayley's other true love made it to the reception.... Luckily, David didn't mind too much

The speeches were....... well, silly

and much enjoyed by everyone...

The reception was held in a stunning Bakerwood Marquee, the staff were exceptional (as always) and the dancing continued late into the night.

Sonia and Rob

When you know that a venue has previously been a favourite of the likes of Posh ’n’ Becks and Tom ’n’ Nicole, it certainly does get you excited each time you go there to photograph a wedding. Our very own Posh 'n' Becks - Sonia & Rob certainly picked a fantastic combination of St Marys Church in Rydal and The Samling. They even managed to get permission for photographs in Wordsworth Gardens! There was a great moment when Sonia and Rob left the church just as a coach load of Japanese tourists was passing, the coach stopped and everyone on board rushed to the window to see Sonia and Rob, I think they took more pictures of the wedding in two minutes than I did all day! Everything about the day was just that little bit special and it was a privilege to be with such a lovely couple on such an important day.

Sonia and Rob's wedding suppliers:

Dress: Madeline Gardner
Bridesmaids Dresses: Forever Yours
Flowers: Fleurations - Windermere, Cumbria
Hair: Aqua - Bowness-on-Windemere, Cumbria
Make-up: The Powder Room - Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria
Suits: Slaters

The venue...

The Manmire Suite at The Samling and Sonia's killer heels!

Sonia in her Madeline Gardner dress...

The Church in Rydal was beautiful and perfect for this intimate ceremony.

As man and wife they were covered in confetti and then began the hike up a massive hill to the Wordsworth gardens - in those heels Sonia, well done!!

Back at The Samling we took advantage of the stunning setting. The view over the lake is fantastic, but probably even more so from the hot tub outside their honeymoon suite!!

Emma and Ben

Just had a lovely little wedding in Gretna that I thought I would share with you. Emma and Ben flew in from Dubai to join the 4-5000 couples a year that choose Gretna as their wedding location. They chose to marry in the beautiful Anvil Hall, then followed with their reception at the award winning four star hotel Smiths.

At Anvil Hall...

The happy couple...... We decided 'Mean and Moody' was best for Ben...

Smiths Hotel has a very contemporary style and was a perfect setting for these shots

Elysha and Kevin

There was quite a buzz when we arrived at Elysha's house to photograph the girls getting ready. Elysha hadn't shown anyone (except mum) her wedding dress and everyone was trying to catch a sneaky glimpse! It was simply gorgeous and everyone was gobsmacked when they saw her! There has been quite a trend lately of brides buying stunning dresses from 'I Do' in Cockermouth and hers was no different... They were married at Our Lady and St Michael's church in Workington, which was absolutely stunning, then had their reception at Hunday Manor Hotel at Windscales. The weather turned out to be lovely and everyone enjoyed the afternoon in the beautiful gardens at the hotel.

Karen and Paul

Langley Castle is the venue Karen and Paul chose for their wedding - and what a venue it is! Not only is it a magnificent castle, but the quality of service and attention to detail from the staff is always exceptional. As both Karen and Paul were getting ready in the Castle, it was great to be able to catch both of their preparations with their friends and family around them as the excitement and anticipation grew. Paul is known to be a bit of a perfectionist (as his best man mentioned on more than one occasion in his speech) so everything had to be right, and it was! We had a great day with you and would like to thank you both for allowing us to share it with you.

Firstly the girls...

Now the boys...

Karen's Veil was stunning... I imagine there will be a few more brides-to-be going to Bracelona on shopping trips now!

Langley Castle is the most magnificent backdrop

Karen and Paul put a lot of effort into making their wedding stationary and place cards - it really paid off! They had a very tasty looking candy bar, which is something you don't see very often.

Poor Paul, suitably embarassed by his best man's speech!

Jane and Lee

The majority of weddings I tend to photograph these days are usually large, with 80 or more guests, so it was nice to be invited to cover a smaller wedding with just Jane & Lee's family and close friends in attendance. The whole day was very relaxed and had a warmth and atmosphere which made my job so easy. I think that Crosby Lodge, near Calisle, was the perfect venue for their intimate wedding. Jane was wearing one of the most simple, but stylish wedding gowns I have seen and looked absoultley fantastic! The combination of a lovely couple, family, friends and Crosby Lodge's beautiful garden, made it a memorable day for all.

Jane and Lee's wedding suppliers:

Dress: Blue Range by ENZOANI 2009 collection - 'I Do' Cockermouth, Cumbria
Make-up: Dreamsday Spa Carlisle, Cumbria
Flowers: Vandella Flowers Carlisle, Cumbria
Hair: Jibe Carlisle, Cumbria
Suits: Greenwoods

We started off with Jane getting ready...

I was right about her looking fantastic...

The ceremony was outdoors, everything was perfect

After the ceremony we had a fashion style photo shoot with Jane

Then got some of Jane and Lee together

What a lovely day.

Sarah & James

I always enjoy meeting a bride and groom before their wedding, but Sarah and James stand out in my mind more than most - poor Sarah hobbled into my studio with a cast on her leg... luckily it was all healed in time for the wedding! They have a love for the outdoors and are passionate about the lake district (especially when they are on their mountain bikes), so it came as no surprise that they had chosen Leeming House as their wedding venue, a beautiful country house hotel with stunning grounds, just off the shore of Ullswater. Sarah and James' wedding was an amazing event and they have asked us in particular to thank Graham Devine (Leeming House General Manager), Michelle Hipwell (Wedding Coordinator) and Richard Matthews (Toast Master) for their contribution in making everything just perfect.

Firstly Sarah...

Now the band. 'Bass, Tone, Slap' recently appeared on the BBC show 'Dragon's Den' and walked away with a load of cash for their business... Well done guys! They created a fantastic atmosphere at Sarah and James' wedding, we were bouncing around all day!

Jason the Juggling Jester kept everyone entertained... not just the children!

The weather was perfect, as was the couple...

The backdrop wasn't too bad either!!

Sarah and James' wedding was themed around their honeymoon.... Tandem cycling around the Hebrides. Any 'Helmet-Cam' footage then guys?
